n is your entrant count. Double elimination adds one more game when the grand final resets.

List the entrants and create the schedule: every entrant meets every other exactly once, round by round, with a rotating bye when the field is odd. Tap each winner as results come in and the standings update; print the schedule or share a link that carries every result.

How the round robin schedule works

Everyone meets everyone once, and the best record wins.

Every pairing exactly once

The schedule uses the circle method. One entrant keeps its place while the rest rotate one step each round, so every pair meets exactly once and nobody plays twice in a round. An even field needs one round fewer than it has entrants. With an odd field one entrant sits out each round, and the bye rotates so everyone sits out exactly once. Results go in round by round, and the standings rank everyone by wins.

A worked example: six or seven entrants

Six entrants play 5 rounds of 3 games: 15 games, n(n − 1)/2. Seven entrants play 7 rounds of 3 games with one bye each round: 21 games, and each entrant sits out once.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

How many games does a round robin take?

One for every pair of entrants: n(n − 1)/2. Four entrants play 6 games, eight play 28 and twelve play 66. The count grows fast, so a large field may be better split into groups, or played as Swiss.

How many rounds are there?

One fewer than the number of entrants when the field is even, and one per entrant when it is odd. Eight entrants play 7 rounds of 4 games, and nine play 9 rounds of 4 games with one entrant resting each round.

How are byes handled with an odd number of entrants?

Each round one entrant sits out, and the bye moves on every round, so everyone rests exactly once and plays everyone else exactly once. The schedule shows who has the bye under each round.

How is the winner decided?

By wins: tap the winner of each game and the standings rank everyone by their record. If two entrants finish level at the top after the last game, the tool says so; settle it with a playoff game or share first place.

Can I use it for a league, a ladder or club night?

Yes, for any game where two players or teams meet: the schedule doesn't depend on the sport. Each round lists who meets whom, so with fewer courts or boards than games, play the round in waves before starting the next.

Can I print or share the schedule?

Yes. Print gives the full schedule and the standings. The share link carries the entrants and every result so far, so the whole group sees the same table. Nothing is stored on a server: the schedule lives in the link.
